Changing the Trajectory for Boys
How We measure growth:
Literacy and Core Skills
Assessed through brief digital quizzes and project rubrics aligned with state and international literacy standards.
Social Emotional Skills
Measured using the CASEL framework and DESSA mini, a globally recognized SEL assessment tool, administered pre-and post-program
Creative and Technical Work
Evaluated through project-based rubrics focusing on creativity, technical skills and collaboration.
Target Outcomes Include:
Literacy Growth
We aim for students to demonstrate measurable growth in reading comprehension, writing fluency and/or communication skills over the course of the program.
Socio-Emotional Growth
We measure growth in confidence, teamwork and emotional expression. We aim for students to feel more confident in self-expression and improve collaboration skills.
Student Engagement
Our aim is for students to report increased interest in reading and writing. We also aim for participants to complete at least one original creative project.
School & Partner Demand
We track the percentage of schools and community partners that request continued programming. Success is defined by partner sites asking BWW to return or expand, demonstrating educator buy-in and perceived impact.

Looking Ahead
While we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, we know there’s much more work to be done. Our goals for the coming years include:
- Expanding to 10 new schools and community centers
- Launching a year-round mentorship program
- Publishing our second edition of The Boys Ink Literary Journal
- Training 20 new facilitators to meet growing demand
- Developing an online resource library for boys, parents, and educators
With your support, we can reach even more boys and create lasting change in their lives.
